Location & getting to the Oceanário de Lisboa

The Oceanário de Lisboa is located in the modern Parque das Nações district directly on the banks of the Tagus on the Expo 1998 site and is ideal for a day trip. In combination with a walk along the waterfront or a visit to the Science Museum, it is a worthwhile excursion destination.

On foot from the city center or train station

The Oceanário is located in the modern Parque das Nações district, directly on the waterfront promenade. From the "Gare do Oriente" train station - an important hub for trains, metro and long-distance buses - you can reach the aquarium in about 10 minutes on foot. A walk along the Tagus River leads directly there.

By car - also for day visitors

The Oceanário de Lisboa is easily accessible via the city's expressways and highways, most easily via the A1 or the CRIL (A36) with exit in the direction of Parque das Nações. Follow the signs to the "Oceanário" or to the "Centro Vasco da Gama".

The "Parque Expo - Estacionamento Oceanário" parking garage is located right next to the aquarium and is open daily. From there, it is only a few minutes' walk to the entrance. Further parking is available in the nearby shopping center "Centro Vasco da Gama".

By public transportation

The aquarium has excellent public transport connections. The "Vermelha" metro line (red line) stops at the "Oriente" station, from which it is only a 10-minute walk to the entrance. Numerous bus lines also stop nearby, including lines 705, 725, 728, 744, 708, 750, 759, 782 and 794. Regional and long-distance trains and the airport bus also stop at "Gare do Oriente".

For a trip across the river, you can use the Transtejo boats to Cais do Sodré or Terreiro do Paço.
